 Introduction
In order to promote a CIM (Construction Information Modeling), which aims to handle data necessary for a lifecycle of engineering, such as plan, design, construction, and maintenance management, as a single consistent model, we have improved data representation in 3D of our company's products.
In addition, to enable generic modeling, our company is developing 3DCAD Studio® which is going to be a new CAD product. This product is aiming to enable data cooperation between 3D modeling and various products. In the following, this product's 3D model creation function, editing function, data cooperation function and future extensions are introduced.
 Creating a 3D model
The modeling flow in this product is done by a sweep operation (extrusion, sweep, rotation) of a 2D curve (such as a line segment or a circle), which creates a 3D shape. A process of editing operation (chamfer, fillet, offset) can also be performed for the created shape. Representation of civil engineering structure can be done by preparing these operations.

For the created model, 2D shape which was the base of the sweep and creation editing operation histories are left, so the shape can be edited by changing the 2D shape and the parameter of operation later.  Representation of civil engineering structure can be done by preparing these operations.
 Import/Export
An input and output function of DXF and DWG is loaded in the product, making the loading of 2D drawing files and the output of the 3D shapes as a polyface mesh possible.
Also, it possesses an output function of 3DS files, which makes it possible to import files into UC-win/Road, which is our company's VR product.
 Analysis support service
FORUM8 currently conducts a technical support work of 3D temperature stress analysis program JCMAC3, but it will newly start providing analysis support service of JCMAC3. We will respond to the various needs in finely-tuned service, making use of our strength as the developer of the pre-post system of JCMAC3.
 Editing operation
As an editing operation of a 2D curve, the editing of the basic properties of the curves can be done by the drag handle in curve types. For each editing, the information will be displayed in the 3D space to make the operation easy for the users.

 Future extension plans
Drawing creation function from a 3D model
This product is being developed aiming for a 3D modeling, but a function to create a 2D drawing from a 3D model is planned to be developed in the next version. By creating a 2D drawing from a 3D model, there is an advantage that no inconsistency will occur between the drawings.

Introduction of a script engine
Loading of a script engine is planned in order to perform creation of a model which the user wants to create and cooperation with other software.  By having the user defining the script, for example if the user input the main measurements, a modeling according to the measurements is planned to be possible. Also, an add-on of 3DCAD Studio® is planned to be provided.

Cooperation with UC-win/Road
Just like the Rhino plug-in of UC-win/Road, a plug-in which can display models, created and edited in 3DCADStudio®, in UC-win/Road in real time is planned to be developed. The design work is supported by displaying the design information on the VR space.
 In the end
A 3D modeling function and data cooperation of DXF, DWG, etc. are the main functions of the first edition of this product, but a cooperation with various software and 3DVR software is planned to be addressed in the future versions, so please look forward to it.
