"The job improvement and management reforms"

Competitions between companies are continuously intensifying regardless of company size and industry type, for that reason, the importance of improvement activities and management reforms at the site are daily increasing. In a "manufacturing" industry, "manufacturing floor" is the crucial factor. That is because, it is the place where "quality" and "cost" are made through "human resources". Toyota Production System is a system that visualizes the problems of the "manufacturing floor" in order to perform a complete elimination of "wastes" and building "quality". In addition, this idea can revitalize a company and improve profitability through a company-wide "improvement" including management and indirect department. In this lecture, that overview will be introduced.
After entering Toyota Motor Co. (Ltd.), worked as Director of Toyota Motor Co. (Ltd.) In times like today when severe weather condition and in particular torrential rainstorms triggering inundation that is causing damage in many places within Japan, a solid measure for National Resiliency is mandatory, hence this along with the future tasks that we must accomplish will be the topic of discussion. Suggestions on high performance and user friendly software and how solutions that support the design of infrastures for drainage and flood mitigation ought to be are welcome.

Special Lecture 8 15:55-16:45
Professor of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology
Masaru Morita
"Analysis of flood risk in urban area : The current situation and tasks"

The entirety of the frame that quantitatively asseses the risk of flood using a model which analyzes inundation and flood extent and another model which calculates the predicted damage due to inundation will be presented. The presentation will start with an explanation on the definition of the flood risk itself, then will go into the detail such as an approach to the quantification of the flood risk and its applications in plans for flood control and stormwater drainage. The speech will be elaborated further with an explanation on the application in flood risk analysis such as risk assessment associated with urbanization and climate change. As a wrap up, flood risk analysis itself and the risk of flood in Japan and other countries today will be explained with the prospect of flood risk management.
Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, College Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology. He specializes in urban hydrology and underground water hydrology. Lately, he is actively involved in the research on flood risk management.

Presentation 3 16:45-17:25
"The latest information of FORUM8's water work design software"
Isamu Okaki
FOURM8 UC-1 Development Group 1
UC-win/Road for xpswmm, a tool for visualizing the results of flood analysis and tsunami analysis within a 3D VR environment will be described in detail. The tool is being used to establish the next generation flood hazard map that graphically shows the flood harzards within the flood-prone area so as to raise the awareness of the risk of potential flood. Furthermore, a lineup of FORUM8's UC-1 Sewerage and Stormwater design software that FORUM8 is currently planning to strengthen substantially will be described briefly.
