(Up&Coming 2018 New Year issue)

From 19 to 21 September, 2017, Testing Expo - Automotive - China was held at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. This expo is one of the largest vehicle testing expo in China where the latest testing, development, and verification technologies gather from around the world. Furthermore, this international event is held also in Europe, America, Korea, and in every other year in India, and is very important show for car manufacturers and their suppliers. This year, a lot of technologies related to ADAS (Advanced driver-assistance systems) and test simulation were exhibited in addition to the existing automotive testing related technologies such as quality and durability verification. It shows that more people have interest in these technologies.

Forum8 showcased its technologies at this event for the second time following last year. At the booth, Forum8 displayed the UC-win/Road and its simple simulator based solutions for automotive testing including a steering controlled simulation and an algorithm verification for ADAS and provided the Oculus experience demonstration.

A little bad weather may have caused the small number of visitors. However, many of the visitors had interests in ADAS as expected. Forum8 received questions about a driving simulation and an ADAS verification system cooperating with the UC-win/Road. Some companies had considerations of the verification for IoT related communication and the development of new functions for hybrid cars and EV cars.
Next to the Forum8 booth, TOYO Corporation, which is one of the domestic users of Forum8 product, ran a booth and displayed the Smart Eye Pro System cooperating with the UC-win/Road. The system can measure motion of head, direction of line of view, and opening and closing of eyelids by using camera. Forum8 and TOYO Corporation are planning to run a larger booth next year.

In China, Forum8 has subsidiaries in Shanghai and Qingdao. Usability, functionality, and convenience are highly evaluated by many users in the fields of ITS, automobile, and traffic. In next UC-win/Road Ver.13, enhancement of road modeling function and driving simulation function are planned. We continue to make further efforts in order to provide better products.
