DSC 2019 Europe VR Conference & Exhibition 2019 is a conference held every year in France, Germany, or other European countries. This event is organized by Driving Simulation Association that FORUM8 has joined this year. Topics included state of the art in driving simulation technology, research and developments, extended with progressively merging virtual reality (VR) developments. This year program also gave an enlarged place for simulation tools for autonomous and connected vehicles along with advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) applications.

The theme of the FORUM8 booth was "VR Platform for Autonomous Driving and Mobility R&D". We exhibited the UC-win/Road Driving Simulator that is composed of 3 screens and real-vehicle parts reproducing the active steering and seat vibration, the VR motion seat playing the roller coaster ride scenario, Automatic Steering VR Simulator with Torque Control, the 3D CG software Shade3D that corresponds to from modeling to CAD. In addition, we introduced the Air Driving by device cooperation with Kinect and Xtion Pro®, and the embedded system "RTLS" that enables the real-time tracking of materials at factory and office by using the cooperation between UC-win/Road and Rasberry Pi / Smartphones with Android.

As the cooperated exhibit with Premium Arts, FORUM8 also displayed the AR technology as the applied example of image recognition. Many visitors had interests in this AR system that allows users to read vehicle models as AR image by using a tablet and simulate the painting of vehicle body and the layout of chassis and engine, since this event was focused on the automobile and driving simulator industry.

The visitors mainly from Asian countries including Japan gave us requests such as a construction of motion platform based large simulator, an introduction of simulation system to driving schools, and a R&D cooperated with HILS/SILS and UC-win/Road. In addition, FORUM8 had a talk about the consideration of UC-win/Road for reading measurement data with a company in Europe that is specialized in measuring on-site environment data from integrated devices such as stereo camera, IMU, and GPS in order to construct an environment for simulation.

FORUM8 will continue to expand and develop new functions of UC-win/Road as the VR platform of autonomous driving and mobility R&D.
