(Up&Coming 2020 New Year issue)

From September 24 to 26, 2019, Testing Expo - Automotive - China was held at Shanghai World EXPO Exhibition & Convention Center. This expo is one of the largest vehicle testing expo in China where the latest testing, development, and verification technologies about automobile development gather from around the world. Furthermore, this international event is held also in Europe, America, Korea every year, and in every other year in India, and is very important show for car manufacturers and their suppliers. This year, the event focused on the latest technology and service to improve quality, safety, reliability, and strength of vehicle.

FORUM8 has attended this exhibition for 4 years since 2016. Under the theme "VR Platform for Autonomous Driving and Mobility R&D", FORUM8 displayed the VR solutions utilizing a 3D VR software VR Design Studio UC-win/Road, such as the UC-win/Road simple driving simulator, VR Motion Seat playing a scenario of roller coaster, and Automatic Steering VR Simulator with Torque Control. We also exhibited a 3D CG software Shade3D that helps designers widely from modeling to CAD and showed a demonstration of VR-NEXT realizing the reflection and high-precise depiction of materials by PBR (Physics Base Rendering).

In addition, together with the 4-axis motion driving simulator, we introduced ADAS-related options such as the camera segment option, fish-eye lens, Simulink option, and HILS. We got many inquiries from visitors about the cooperation with camera sensor, Laser, and Lidar sensor. A lot of visitors had interests in ADAS including the sensor option and requested testing platforms linked with HILS.

Among the visitors mainly from Asian countries including Japan, for example, a major manufacturer of mini truck wanted to test driver's driving model on DS. Also, a company that is developing a face recognizing sensor and algorithm by itself said that it will consider the introduction of DS equipped with sensors to record images of driver's face and test its own algorithm.

FORUM8 will continue the development and improvement of new functions of UC-win/Road and other solutions as a VR platform for autonomous driving and mobility R&D.
