Subscription Floating 保守・サポートサービス関連情報
FORUM8 is providing product licenses on the subscription contract. For products provided by the subscription, users pay according to the duration of use. FORUM8 subscription users have benefits below:

  • Users are protected from unintended license violation or copyright violation.
  • The free-of-charge launcher corresponding to CIM allows users to manage licenses efficiently.


About floating
The basic subscription contract users can use a product on one PC that they activated the product license for the first time. The license cannot be used on another PC even if you finished the program or uninstalled it. Thus, the basic contract sometimes brings an inconvenience if several persons use one program.
To avoid this problem, we provide a floating option. Users who are on the floating contract can authenticate their license and use the program on any PC.
* The number of program being able to be activated concurrently is up to the number of license the user contracts.


How to take advantage of a floating licenses
Even though the floating option allows users to activate programs on several PCs, some users complain that it is troublesome to configure the authentication setting on each PC because they have and use many PCs. What solves this problem is the "Share serial code" setting. This function makes the authentication on after the 2nd PC simple.
* This function is available in products released after December 2017.
* Serial codes are input automatically, but whether the license is actually authenticated depends on the license usage status.

The setting procedure is as follows.

[License activation]
  1. Activate the floating license on one PC via web (input the serial code).
  2. Save the serial code you activated in a common folder as a file.
  3. The serial code saved in the file made in the procedure No.2 is automatically input for activation.

[Share serial code]
  1. Launch a program corresponding to this function.
  2. Select the "Web" authentication mode and click "Detail".
  3. Check in "Share serial code authenticated".
  4. Select a folder for the "Shared folder". Note that the writing authority for the folder is required.
  5. Press "Save" and close the Detail Config window.

    The settings above is common among products. Only one setting with any program per PC is required.
  6. Press "Authenticate" button. Enter the serial code of floating license if you are asked to enter.
  7. Confirm that a file named "SerialCodeListCache.dat" is created in the folder specified in No.4.
  8. Execute the same processings from 1 to 5 on another PC. Select the same location for the common folder on all PCs in the procedure No.4.
  9. Press "Authenticate" button. If there is an unused license, the license will be activated without inputting the serial code.
  10. The program will work as usual once it is authenticated, and it will not refer to the folder and file specified in No.4.

The settings from the procedure 1 to 5 are saved in the following registry. You can simplify those settings by distributing the registry file (*.reg).
