Structure Expression in an Intersection

When you create an intersection with UC-win/Road, unlike a general road section, it is classified into three categories: road, pavement, slope. and height of a road/pavement is expressed constantly.
Therefore, when a curb or a guardrail of the roadway are expressed as cross section, they can't be expressed in the intersection. you have to express without a curb or a guardrail before intersection.
Following is expression method in a intersection.

1.Model Arrangement

Therefore, when a curb or a guardrail of the roadway are expressed as cross section, they can't be expressed in the intersection. you have to express without a curb or a guardrail before intersection.

2.Expression with another road alignment.
When you use create a model with a road alignment, you should define an alignment along each corner of the intersection. Road itself is a dummy alignment.
Set longitudinal sections as bridge zone, not to give rise to the earthwork, and place them along the pavement.
Regarding to the sections, curb or guardrail parts is to be expressed.
For example, you set roadway as 10cm of transparent part.
When you place a model, polygon tends to increase at the corner part.
Therefore the mentioned method is effective to control the increase of polygon, or hard to deal with the complex shaped model to set.
Also, alignment setting is effective when longitudinal section is hard to set.
We reccomned you to try the above way if you need a structure in an intersection.

How to Read an Accelerator Wave

An acceleration can be applied to the model with UC-win/FRAME(3D) by following four methods
  1. Input the acceleration optionally
  2. Import an acceleration file
  3. Iimport the K/KiK-NET acceleration wave
  4. Import the JMA acceleration wave
An acceleration fire(*.acc) is the improved earthquake wave data to be able to read in UC-win/FRAME(3D).
UC-win/FRAME(3D) have the acceleration wave, which is described in specifications for highway bridges, as a sample data.

Kyoshin Network(K-NET) is the internet distribution system of nationwide strong motion data.
You can import the strong motion data downloaded from here.

JMA earthquake wave data is digital wave data provided by the Meteorological Agency.
JMA earthquake wave data is available for download on the following website

While the earthquake registered 1434gal on horizontal motion, 3866gal on vertical motion at the observation point IWTH (ichinoseki-nishi).
Future researches or eximinations are expected that how much damage the largre scale of vertical motion do.
UC-win/FRAME(3D) can give a 3 direction shake: horizontal two components and one vertical component.
Figure shows the import of an acceleration wave, which is observed on IWTH25 (ichinoseki-nishi), and the analyzed results of the case, which applied the acceleration wave to a sample bridge.
Biaxial flexure, which is caused by axial force change of one vertical acceleration and horizontal two components, can be taken into consideration properly by use of fiber elements.
