1. New features of Engineer's Studio®
Engineer's Studio® V2.01 was released in last January. This is a very significant release for Engineer's Studio® because it now contains all the major features of UC-win/FRAME(3D) in addition to several major new features.

We introduce the main improvements and new features that Engineer's Studio® offers compared to UC-win/FRAME(3D).
Graphical User Interface

ES was reengineered with a new graphics core to be a fully functional highly responsive and interactive 3D editing environment. The new environment permits true 3D CAD style interactive editing functions. Many intuitive graphical editing tools have been built on this platform and many more are possible. The graphics response on large models is much improved from UC-win/FRAME(3D).

A new table editor system has been developed that supports many input and editing features. Table editors are provided for most data.

Object selection, copy & pasting features provide many new and efficient features compared to UC-win/FRAME(3D). Almost all data can be copied and pasted whereas in UC-win/FRAME(3D) it was limited to only a few data types.

A new incremental undo / redo feature. With this feature, the data that changes in each edit operation is saved so it is very efficient for large models and does not affect the GUI response.

The new GUI offers a significant decrease in data creation times. Tests on this have been performed by Forum8 for a typical editing situation and the time savings are significant.

New Elements

At present, Engineer's Studio® has several new element types that enable it to undertake a far greater range of modeling than UC-win//FRAME(3D).

The Mindlin plate model, a true catenary cable element (not the modified stiffness truss element that is common in many programs) and a viscous damping element are the main additions.

All the new elements support dynamic nonlinear analysis.

New features under development

Several major new features are under development now.

Multi point dynamic force loading.

Multi point dynamic forced displacement loading.

Multi point acceleration loading.

Result selection.

The multi-point loading features are used in a variety of situations. A common one is the modeling of soil structure interactions. A soil analysis can be completed first in a program specializing in that and then the resulting time history data for the displacements or accelerations at points on the structure can be passed into Engineer's Studio® for structural analysis.

The result selection feature is a complete re-implementation of all result storage and processing specifications. It will give the user much control over the selection of results to be saved there by avoiding the large result file size problem.

2. International version of analysis support service
This international version of the "UC-win/FRAME(3D), Engineer's Studio® Analysis Support Service" and" Geo Technical Analysis Support Service" (available in English, Chinese, and Korean) is for users outside Japan that are using UC-win/FRAME(3D), Engineer's Studio®, Geo Technical Analysis series (GeoFEAS3D, UWLC, LEM3D, VG-Flow), and users in Japan that are taking orders for the work to be conducted outside Japan.

Since the service commenced in 2004, FORUM8 has provided the service to more than 500 users, the kind of business achievement we are proud of. We provide a high quality service by using the state-of-the-art analysis method such as the Dynamic Nonlinear analysis and Geo Technical Dynamic FEM Analysis Highly to give an accurate analysis result on various types of civil works and architectural structures. The products targeted for this service are UC-win/FRAME(3D), Engineer's Studio®, and Geo Technical Analysis series (GeoFEAS3D, UWLC, LEM3D, VG-Flow)are being localized to English and other languages for the worldwide market, and are highly evaluated by many prestigious Universities in Japan as excellent Japanese software. The work flow of the service is same as that of the Japan; we ask users to prepare the structural drawing and other materials required for quotation, and our technical staff will confirm the materials to come up with the quotation.
