Eight screen projection Large XR system
has been delivered to Akita University

FORUM8 Co., Ltd. (2-15-1 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo. President: Yuji Ito. URL: https://www.forum8.co.jp/english/) has delivered the 'XR Room Physical Space Reproduction System' to Akita University.

This system is installed in the AI Research Promotion Center in Bldg. 1 of the Faculty of Information and Data Science, and is 8m wide x 2.5m high, capable of large-scale projection using eight projectors at the front, back, left, right, and on the floor. It is constructed in a cluster configuration of UC-win/Road, which is 3D VR software supporting PBR display, and it can realistically recreate real-world environments for experience in research and education promoted by each unit of XR/Metaverse, AI social collaboration, and intelligent robotics.

Specifically, it supports the quick construction of a digital twin space using UC-win/Road, performing a variety of simulations, playing 360-degree videos, making 3D VR visuals of CT scan images in DICOM format (a medical image format), and more in a wide range of fields including traffic, environment, and medical care.

In the future, we will enhance the collaboration with hardware, sensing devices, and external applications such as UAVs, cameras, robots, driving simulators, and XR devices. It is planned to be used for researches, education for students, as well as recurrent education at Akita University.
